Fragon Studios builds custom software for SMEs and mid-market companies across DACH.
Our software runs on our own servers at Hetzner in Germany and Finland. No US CLOUD Act, no Schrems II risk, no sudden price hikes. You get the code, not just the license.
Pragmatic engineering, honest advice
Four principles that run through our projects. Not wall paint, but practice.
Honest estimate before signing. We name price and timeline before the signature goes on paper. When conditions change, we talk before it gets expensive, not after.
Weekly demos instead of monthly status reports. Every week you see what has been built and can adjust direction. No surprises at the end of a sprint.
Code ownership with the client. You get the Git repository, usage rights, and documentation. No vendor lock-in, no hostage strategy for follow-up contracts.
Maintenance and operations are optional, not an obligation. We're happy to host on Fragon Cloud and run operations, but you can just as well stay with your IT partner or in your own data center.
Continuity that doesn't depend on one person
Boutique studios have a fair question hanging over them: what happens if the founder is unavailable? We answer it before you ask.
Code ownership from day one
Every commit lands in your Git repository, not ours. You hold the keys, the docs, and the deploy credentials. If we disappear tomorrow, your software keeps running.
Documented handover, not tribal knowledge
Every project ships with an architecture doc, a runbook, and an onboarding guide written for an engineer you've never met.
No license lock-in
We don't build on proprietary platforms you can't leave. The stack is standard (Next.js, .NET, PostgreSQL, Hetzner). Any competent engineering team can take over.
Why our own infrastructure
US CLOUD Act, Schrems II, and the unresolved legal situation around AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud are the reason. We didn't want to hand our clients a new liability debate every year and chose Hetzner: German company, data centers in Nuremberg, Falkenstein, and Helsinki, no third-country transfers, clear Art. 28 GDPR DPA. Hardware is dedicated, pricing is stable, the team is reachable. For 95 percent of SME workloads this is the right call, without sacrificing cloud features you actually need.
